Huracan is a mostly enclosed indoor family rollercoaster at Bellewaerde theme park in Belgium.
The ride takes place within The Temple of the Mexican Square and is named after Huracan, the Mayan god of wind and fire. Visitors ride on the back of a two headed snake into the world of the divine to rescue Huracan from his prison within the temple.
It is a Zierer Force model coaster, making it suitable for both families and thrillseekers.
The first part of the ride features a dark ride section introducing the theme, with the train passing through the temple and beside various masks with glowing eyes set into the walls. After climbing the lift hill out of the temple the trains emerge into the daylight, briefly giving riders the chance to take in views over Bellewaerde before diving down the first drop and back into the ride building.
The main indoor rollercoaster section comes next, and is something of a disappointment compared to the well-themed dark ride section that came before: Sadly, the train races around the circuit in a darkened room with just the occasional laser effect for company. Worse, the daylight streaming in through the hole the track enters through lights up the empty unthemed room which totally ruins the immersion.
Huracan is a nice family coaster, and the theming of the first half is fantastic. While the second half is visually less impressive theming-wise, the rollercoaster ride itself is fun and a great hit for Bellewaerde.
