Djurs Sommerland's Skatteøen (Danish for "Treasure Island") is the biggest water coaster in Northern Europe.
The ride sits within Djurs' pirate themed land and climaxes in a 22 metre drop and water splash, with the boat themed trains navigating a rollercoaster section along the way.
Skatteøen features some great theming, especially the station and in the early part of the ride which features a large animatronic octopus to help keep riders entertained on their way to the lift hill.
The rollercoaster part of the ride consists of a long helix which initially drops downwards, before climbing back up and delivering the boat at speed over the top of the main drop. There's not a great deal to it in terms of elements or forces, but it adds a nice bit of pre-soaking excitement.
While there are better water coasters out there, Skatteøen is a fun ride and nicely themed if rather short. The splash isn't too wet for riders in the boat itself, although Djurs offers the customary splash zone next to the main drop for spectators in search of a drenching.
