A boat gets splashed by the giant waterfall

Hurjakuru is the name of the whitewater rapids ride at Helsinki's Linnanmäki amusement park.

The ride's frothing water channel weaves its way through a course which passes underneath the park's Salama spinning rollercoaster, through a darkened cave and alongside a giant waterfall which cascades down from a pathway high above.

Riders sit in round boats which seat up to nine passengers. The boats float through the raging waters, with splashes from the rapids regularly entering the boat and threatening to soak riders.

Hurjakuru gives a nice long ride through typical Finnish fir trees. Although unlikely to leave riders completely drenched, it has its fair share of waves and splashes. The waterfall provides a fantastic picturesque finale, and depending on the angle the boat hits it it can make for a wet and wild end to the ride!
