Kirnu is the Finnish word for churn, which is a particularly appropriate name for Linnanmäki's Intamin Zac Spin rollercoaster - the first of its kind in the world.
The ride looks unlike a traditional rollercoaster: its loop of track stands vertical, with ride cars seating riders in two groups of four like wings to either side.
After being hauled up the curving vertical lift hill, the car is released at the top to roll along a horizontal track. Riders then find themselves whipping around and underneath the first section, before navigating through a three-quarter loop and over another spike of track. Ultimately this culminates in the car dropping down a final vertical section, being slowed along the way by magnetic brakes.
Kirnu is short and snappy, which is probably exactly what you need in this type of ride. It is fun, but the general wildness and stupidity of it would likely prove uncomfortable if it went on for too long. It has an achingly low capacity which can make for a long slow moving queue, but its bright orange track standing tall near the park's water tower centre makes it an icon and attracts lots of interest from onlookers eager to watch the screaming laughing riders onboard.
