PowerPark is a large entertainment complex near to the cities of Vaasa and Seinäjoki, about a third of the way up Finland.
It features a world class horse racing circuit, major arena, shopping centre, cinema, indoor and outdoor karting tracks, a hotel and business centre together with Finland's largest full-scale amusement park.
Being further North than most amusement parks limits PowerPark's summer operating season to daily openings only in June and July, plus a few weekends in May and August.
The park boasts an impressive collection of major rides and rollercoasters, including not one but two Gerstlauer Infinity Coasters. Obviously PowerPark were very pleased with Junker (their first Infinity) to the point that not only did they purchase a second (Pitts Special) just five years later, but they even painted the track the same colour and built it in the same area of the park!
Alongside the Infinities other ride highlights include Thunderbird, a thrilling GCI woodie; Cobra, a Vekoma Boomerang with new style trains; Kwai River, a very wet flume ride; and Devil's Mine Hotel, a decent interactive dark ride which limits the number of shots that riders can fire.
PowerPark's setting between a river and forest provides a typically Scandinavian atmosphere, and the great and varied ride selection should suit families and thrillseekers alike. Staff are friendly and the park is clean and tidy, which all makes for a fantastic day out.
