Kwai River is a large - and very wet! - flume ride at PowerPark.
It is named after the famous war film Bridge Over the River Kwai which starred Alec Guinness, and its water channel weaves underneath the park's existing large wooden bridge. Each of the ride's nine boats is supposedly named after one of the characters from the film.
The ride is a Super Flume from British water ride manufacturer Interlink. It features two lifts and two drops, both of which can create sufficient splashes to leave riders pretty wet or even close to soaked!
Despite the war movie theme, Kwai River consists largely of unthemed concrete water channels which seems a shame and a bit of a missed opportunity. There's also a slightly odd positioning of the station, which means boats are brought up to it via a long lift hill at the end of the ride, creating a rather boring finale.
Overall Kwai River is a good enough flume ride, although nothing spectacular. It gets riders wet, which is what any decent water ride should do, but the unthemed concrete channel and unspectacular ending are a little disappointing.
