Tyksky, which has been given the name Surge in English, is Särkänniemi's Zamperla Disk'O coaster that can be found at the very tip of the theme park's cape which juts out into Lake Näsijärvi.
The ride was added to the park in 2009 and sits beside Trombi, the park's Zamperla Volare flying coaster. It was the first of its kind to be installed in a park in the Nordic countries.
Tyksky has a maximum capacity of 40 riders per cycle, who all sit on outward facing bicycle style seats arranged around the edge of a disk shaped platform. During the ride, the disk spins while navigating up and down a W-shaped track. It is speedy enough to give some decent G-forces, without being too intense or ever feeling like it is about to pull riders out of their seats.
It has been given a light blue paint job, and is nicely decorated at the tip of each end of the track with playful dolphins jumping up with a ball. The centre of the disk has another large dolphin model too.
Tyrsky is the perfect ride for its location, with its long straight track fitting perfectly on the narrow strip of land it is built on. Given riders are sat high up on the rotating disk, they get some fantastic views of Lake Näsijärvi too as they are spun around and travel up and down over the Disk'O Coaster's camelback hill.
