Parc Spirou Provence is a theme park situated just outside Avignon in Southern France, and takes its name and overall theme from Spirou, the Belgian comic strip character.
The park opened in 2018 and features a collection of rollercoasters, rides, and three simulator-style attractions from Simworx.
Highlights include Wanted Dalton, a family rollercoaster; Blorks Attack, a Zamperla Disk'O coaster; Lucky River, a log flume with a backwards drop; and Gaffe à Gaston, a 4D movie chase through an office building. Sadly Spirou Racing, which should be the park's headline rollercoaster, is forceless and rather boring.
The entire park is built on the level on a flat piece of ground that means navigating around is easy. It does, though, have a lot of concrete paths and not much shade, which can make the unrelenting heat of summer in the South of France quite uncomfortable. Luckily, Parc Spirou's three indoor attractions are all air conditioned and can provide some welcome relief on a hot day ... not to mention they are a lot of fun in themselves!
Parc Spirou Provence's cartoon theming and selection of family friendly rides makes it a great option for a day out away from the beach in the South of France, with some nice indoor attractions that provide a bit of variety along with some cooling shade.
