Walibi Rhône-Alpes is a large theme park around an hour drive south east of Lyon in France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
It first opened in 1979 and evolved to become the first in the Walibi chain of parks found in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
The stand-out attraction at Walibi Rhône-Alpes is Mystic, a superb Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster which opened in 2019 and is one of the best examples of the rollercoaster model currently in existence.
Mystic is joined by Timber, a Gravity Group wooden coaster from 2016 plus other rides such as Gold River, the park's rapids ride; Woodstock Express, a mine themed wild mouse; and W.A.B. Tour, a train which circles the park.
There are shows too, including a spectacular high dive show and a slightly weird stunt show involving monkeys and bananas.
Overall Walibi Rhône-Alpes is a nice theme park, although it feels a little lacking in big ticket rides compared to other Walibi parks in the chain. Mystic is by far the best attraction, however, and is more than worth a visit alone.
