Silver Star is the tallest, longest and fastest rollercoaster at Europa Park, and one of very few rides in the park not manufactured by Mack Rides themselves.
The 240ft tall hyper coaster is from Bolliger & Mabillard, and follows an out-and-back layout comprised of a series of huge airtime hills along the park boundary in the France area.
The rollercoaster features a car racing theme and is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, with a starting grid themed loading station and ride operators wearing racing suits.
Silver Star is spectacular, offering a beautiful smooth ride over multiple floaty airtime hills at high speeds. The train, especially the back seats, is really whipped over some of the hills - most noticably on the mid-course brake-run which flattens out at the top of a hill, the train briefly horizontal before being pulled down the other side.
Since Silver Star, B&M have gone on to build several other hyper coasters across the world. A few enthusiasts complain about the magnetic brakes on the airtime hills or say that it is bland in comparison to other hyper coasters: indeed some have more exciting layouts, and some - like Shambhala at PortAventura - tower over Silver Star.
However, Silver Star remains an underrated superstar with plenty of airtime, speed, and its moderated intensity makes for a comfortable, fun and enjoyable re-rideable coaster.
