Nessie is Hansa Park's Scottish themed rollercoaster, which first opened at the park in 1980.
The ride is a classic Schwarzkopf rollercoaster, which includes a vertical loop part way around the track. It takes its name from the legendary Loch Ness Monster, with trains emerging from a Scottish castle themed station and the track set within a vaguely Highlands themed landscape.
In common with many Schwarzkopf coasters, despite its age Nessie is still very smooth and provides a fantastic fun filled ride, with several pops of airtime and surprisingly forceful moments.
When it opened in 1980 the ride was known as Nessie Superrollercoaster and was the first permanent rollercoaster installation in Germany to feature a vertical loop. Nowadays it is joined in Hansa Park's Enchanting Britain area by Royal Scotsman (formerly Rasender Roland), the park's Vekoma family coaster who's track intertwines with Nessie.
Nessie is a true rollercoaster classic, and despite its vintage it still holds its own against Hansa Park's more modern coasters. Definitely worth a ride!
