Opened in the park's Klugheim expansion alongside the area's headline Taron LSM Launch Coaster, Raik is Phantasialand's family friendly Boomerang rollercoaster.
The ride sits within the Klugheim canyon, its track twisting around and interacting with Taron's at several points. However, it is less intense and much more appropriate for younger riders than its big brother.
Raik is a Family Boomerang from Vekoma, a ride model that has become increasingly popular in recent years and is an example of the new much higher quality rollercoasters coming from the Dutch manufacturer. Similar to full-sized Boomerang coasters, Raik is a shuttle style rollercoaster meaning it runs through its track both forwards and then again in reverse, although the family version does away with any inversions.
The rollercoaster is not a small children's ride though, and upon opening it was both the longest and fastest family boomerang coaster in the world.
While at barely a minute long Raik is short, its spectacular theming and the way it races past steep rockfaces and through narrow canyons makes it better than most family boomerang coasters. It is almost a pity that it sits where it does as it doesn't come close to matching up to the epicness of the neighbouring Taron, meaning it can be easily dismissed and not seen as a great ride in its own right in the way it would be were it set in most other theme parks.
