Inside the cinema

Scatola Magica was a shockingly poorly maintained 4D cinema at Miragica, the former Italian theme park.

The cinema's name translated to "Magic Box", but the experience inside was anything but magical. A damp musty odour pervaded throughout, the seat coverings were torn to shreds in places, and the carpet didn't look like it had ever been cleaned.

It had clearly originally been designed to be a 180° wrap around experience, but by 2015 the side screens were no longer being used and the action all took place on a single central screen.

4D effects which were working were OK, apart from one which involved the seats "dropping" that performed so violently it actually hurt!

The state of Scatola Magica was disappointing, but was also typical of the lack of maintenance or care seen across Miragica. When it first opened it was probably quite impressive, but those days were long gone ages before the park itself closed.
