Senzafiato

Senzafiato - Italian for "Breathless" - was a rollercoaster at the now defunct Miragica theme park in Italy, and was perhaps the park's headline attraction.

The rollercoaster was a small version of Intamin's Accelerator Coaster model, but even despite its diminutive size it managed to provide a decent-ish ride.

Senzafiato's hydraulic launch was fairly nippy, accelerating the train up to its maximum speed and straight over the 18 metre high top hat element. From there the rest of the layout was reminiscent of rides like Rita at Alton Towers and Desert Race at Heide Park, with a series of sweeping turns and a few airtime hills.

The experience was spoilt a little bit by Intamin's standard vest restraint design prevalent on their Accelerator Coasters, with the hard over the shoulder straps knocking into riders' necks and the lower part of the restraint digging into their legs. It was still nice and re-rideable though, even if everything post-top hat was a little slow and uninspired - a problem that might have been remedied by a faster launch.

Sadly, along with the rest of Miragica, Senzafiato was not well cared for. Despite being just a handful of years old the track was covered in peeling paintwork, sitting above untended ground inhabited by countless weeds which all looked very shabby.

Senzafiato remained at Miragica until the park closed in 2018. It was SBNO until finally being removed in 2021 and sent to Zamperla for refurbishment, before being sold to Playland in Canada to be their new attraction for 2024.
