One of the original PortAventura rides, El Diablo remains a fun mine train themed rollercoaster in the park's colonial Mexico area.
The ride takes visitors on a journey around an old silver mine which closed many years ago after all the miners disappeared.
Riders sit inside the original mine train - although today rather than a member of the mine crew, the engine driver is El Diabo (the Devil) himself!
El Diablo was built by Arrow Dynamics and opened in 1995. Thankfully it is one of the better examples of their Mine Train coaster model, and is much less rough than many other versions.
The ride is long, taking around three minutes to complete a circuit. Along the way are three lift hills, some nice interactions with the Silver Mine Log Flume and the usual series of dips and corners associated with mine trains.
While there are better coasters at PortAventura, El Diablo is still way above average - even for the extensive theming alone.
