Sitting just north of Leicester's city centre is Abbey Park, a large public open space featuring gardens, a boating lake, bowling green and miniature railway.
Over the summer months from early July to late August the park plays host to a Summer funfair featuring travelling rides, stalls and other entertainments brought to the city by showman and lessee Billy Bates and Sons. Billy Bates' Funfair also attends for an Easter edition of the fair.
Attractions available vary year on year but typically include various thrill rides, children's rides and a big wheel that provides views over the fair, across Abbey Park and into Leicester city itself.
The fair can be found on the eastern side of the park next to the main Abbey Park Car Park. Alternative car parking is available at St Margaret's Pastures at the opposite end of the gardens near to the miniature railway.
