Representing the Retro Squad in Dark Forest, Roller Disco was one of the temporary attractions introduced at Alton Towers for the 2021 season.
The ride was a Waltzer from Fairtrade Services which had been hired by Alton Towers from UK showman John Collins to help plug the gaps due to capacity restrictions on some of the permanent rides due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Roller Disco sat on the site formerly occupied by Ug Swinger, near to the entrance of Th13teen.
Rather than trying to make the Waltzer fit with the Dark Forest theme, Alton invented a story to explain the presence of the Retro Squad: The park had sent an urgent call out into space during the 1980s, concerned about the level of thrill on offer. The Retro Squad responded to the call but got lost in time on their way to the park, finally arriving in 2021 to provide some retro eighties fun.
Roller Disco returned to the park for a second year, running all the way through 2022 before being removed at the end of the season. It did not come back for 2023.
