Babylon Park is an indoor family entertainment centre situated in the basement of a building in London's Camden Town.
The park has an outer space theme, with alien themed attractions spread over two floors. It is accessed via escalators from street level through a rather nondescript entrance down a back street which is easily missed. It is claimed to be the biggest indoor park of its type in London, which is almost certainly true since the demise of the London Trocadero but hardly a massive boast.
All of the attractions are aimed at children, with rides on offer including bumper cars, a small drop tower, a mini tagada, a kiddie ferris wheel and a spinning alien ride. The headline ride is the park's Rollercoaster, which can be found on the lowest level. Everything is bright, colourful and the outer space theme flows nicely.
Entry to Babylon Park is free, with a pay-per-ride system in place. This is confusingly complicated, with riders having to purchase a plastic card (costing £1) which can then be loaded with credit at one of a number of kiosks dotted around the venue. While the machines make it look like expensive bundles need to be bought which include "game coins" plus "rides" or "big rides", the game coins themselves can actually be used on rides. A ride on the rollercoaster for example requires 48 game coins, which can be bought at a machine for £5 (not that you'd be able to work that out without asking one of the staff!).
Babylon Park has a nice range of rides and attractions which can entertain young families for an hour or two. It's definitely not worth travelling for, but could be a nice stop off while visiting the Camden area. Prices are reasonable and in line with what you'd pay at a fairground, although the park's game coin system is very confusing in a way you might suspect is there to make harassed parents spend more than they meant to!
