Currently docked off Shipwreck Coast, Blue Barnacle is ready to set sail for a voyage on the stormy seas.
The ride is a swinging pirate ship from Metallbau Emmeln and opened at Chessington in April 2021 to replace Black Buccaneer, another pirate ship which sat in the same spot until 2018.
Once riders are sat on one of Blue Barnacle's ten rows, the ship begins to swing back and forth. At the height of the top swing, riders at the extreme ends of the ship might feel moments of weightlessness as they are swung almost 90° in the air.
Blue Barnacle was originally supposed to open for the 2020 season, but due to delays caused by the Coronavirus pandemic this was postponed until 2021 when it opened along with Croc Drop.
The previous ship Black Buccaneer was much loved, and while Blue Barnacle doesn't quite match the former rides' amazing experience it is a worthy successor.
