Monkey Swinger
Monkey Swinger is Chessington’s version of the fairground wave swinger ride.
Riders sit on chairs suspended on chains from a central circular canopy, which lifts and rotates allowing the chairs to swing out and soar through the air.
On Chessington’s version, there is added excitement as hidden water jets leap up from the ground, threatening to squirt riders as they sail past.
Aside from the water peril, Monkey Swinger is a fun relaxing ride that allows guests to feel like they are flying peacefully through the air on their chair swing.
Originally, Monkey Swinger was known as Billy’s Whizzer when it opened at the park in 2000 as part of Beanoland. It was given a stone carving theme and renamed Monkey Swinger in 2010 when Beanoland became Wild Asia.
