Thomas the Tank Engine in Knapford Station
A theme park within a theme park, Thomas Land at Drayton Manor is a large themed area with rides, attractions and shows based on the popular Thomas the Tank Engine stories by the Rev W Awdry.
Thomas Land is aimed at children, and contains a large number of attractions suitable for young families. The centrepiece is Knapford Station, from which visitors can catch trains to Tidmouth Hault pulled by Thomas, Percy or Rosie.
Beside the station is Troublesome Trucks, a junior rollercoaster from Gerstlauer featuring runaway truck themed cars. Across Thomas Land are rides representing many of the other characters from the stories including James, Diesel, Toby and the Blue Mountain Engines, together with Cranky the Crane, Harold the Helicopter and Bulstrode the barge.
Several other attractions can be found near Tidmouth Hault at the far end of the zoo, including an adventure play area and the Discover Thomas and Friends Exhibition and model railway.
Thomas Land originally opened on 15 March 2008, and quickly became so popular that it received a major expansion that opened on 8 April 2015 with multiple new rides added at the back of Knapford Station.
With so much to do, Thomas Land has proven a hit with families and has become a destination in its own right, to the point now where it is open for selected days out of season when the main theme park is closed.
