Millennium and Odyssey
Fantasy Island is set just inland from the beach at Ingoldmells, about 3 miles up the coast from the popular seaside resort of Skegness.
Together with the amusement park, there is a large indoor/outdoor market and an entertainment venue on the site. Sadly, the market gives the whole place a rather tacky atmosphere.
The park itself is spread over a large outdoor section bordering the market, with several additional rides available inside the entertainment pyramid.
Fantasy Island is probably best known for its two biggest rollercoasters. Standing at 150ft tall, Millennium, a 2736ft long Vekoma coaster circles the park and was opened in 1999 to celebrate the turning of the Millennium. Odyssey (originally Jubilee Odyssey), a 167ft tall Vekoma SLC, was built in 2002 to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
Unfortunately, due to their height, Millennium and Odyssey are unable to operate in high winds ... which are a common occurrence on the coast, making them both rather bizarre investment decisions!
