Spinning Racer
Spinning Racer was one of the new rides added to Fantasy Island for the 2021 season and opened on 12 April following the relaxation of some of the Government's Covid-19 restrictions.
The rollercoaster is a travelling version of a Spinning Coaster from Maurer Söhne, and formerly toured the German fair circuit with showwomen Inge & Angela Bruch before being acquired by Mellors Group in 2020. It was originally built in 2001.
Four riders sit two-by-two back-to-back in each ride car. The cars can spin freely on a central axis as they make their way around the track meaning each ride is unique and, if the car is unbalanced, can cause some hair-raising twists and turns.
The track layout is far beyond the standard spinning wild mouse layouts we tend to see, with an incredible variety of elements crammed into the relatively small footprint.
Spinning Racer is well presented, lots of fun, and provides plenty of adrenaline-filled moments. It's a perfect addition to Fantasy Island.
