Runaway Mine Train is a fairly standard wild mouse style rollercoaster at Funland Hayling Island.
The beachside coaster is a 30x20 variant of L&T Systems' Wild Mouse model, and features the usual zig-zag corners, tight turns and steep drops typical on this type of ride.
Its bright red track looks very smart, and the mine cart themed cars are nicely detailed.
While not by any means rough, Runaway Mine Train is one of the more speedy wild mouse rollercoasters in the UK, and seems to operate with most of its trim brakes switched off which leads to an increasingly hairy ride as the car accelerates around the track. The location right next to the beach provides some wonderful views of the sea from the top of the lift hill and during the first part of the ride.
Runaway Mine Train replaced Funland's Klondike Gold Mine rollercoaster which originally operated at Drayton Manor and, although it doesn't feature the former coaster's vertical loop, feels a more than worthy successor. Before arriving on Hayling Island, Runaway Mine Train had been at Gulliver's World in Warrington as Wild Mine Ride between 1999 and 2015.
