Gulliver’s World is the flagship park in the Gulliver’s theme park chain, along with sister parks Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath and Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes. These are due to be joined by a fourth Gulliver’s theme park in the Rother Valley, which is due to open in 2020.
Currently Gulliver’s World is the largest of the parks, and the only one to feature a wooden rollercoaster, Antelope, amongst its ride line-up. Unfortunately, Antelope is not a good coaster – it’s rough and slams into the track at several points during the ride.
Thankfully, the rest of the attractions at the Warrington park are much more pleasant. There’s a great mix of rides and themed areas specifically aimed at young children. Highlights include the extremely wet Apache Falls rapids ride in Western World, the Adventure Canyon boat ride and Togo Tower dinghy slide in Safari Kingdom, and the small but functional Log Flume in Lilliput Land.
Gulliver’s World’s most impressive area is Lost World, a prehistoric themed land complete with multiple animatronic dinosaurs. Some of the models are laughably poor, but the majority are decent lifelike animatronics. There’s a good collection of rides in the area too, including the Jurassic Jeeps car ride and The Hatchery that allows families to sit inside giant dinosaur eggs which are about to hatch.
The Gulliver’s theme parks are firmly targeted at young families – in fact, adults without children are not allowed to enter – and the vast array of attractions on offer at the Warrington site seem to really hit the mark. There are so many different experiences on offer, it is easy to fill the entire day.
