Will you succeed at the water-based jet-ski challenge?
|Theme Park||Legoland Windsor|
|Park Area||Lego Mythica|
|Opened||29 May 2021 (replaced S.Q.U.I.D. Surfer)|
Riders get the chance to race around a Mythica lake on their own jet-skis on Legoland Windsor's Hydra's Challenge.
The water-based ride features twelve "jet ski" style boats attached to one of two large turntables. Once the ride begins, the turntables spin while riders are able to control how far out their jetskis fly from the turntable using a steering wheel attached to the front of their craft.
With a bit of skill, riders can steer their jet skis to make a huge wave behind them. But they need to watch out too ... spectators watching from the "safety" of dry land can set off underwater water jets using buttons surrounding the lake, soaking unsuspecting riders.
The ride has been at Legoland Windsor for many years and has previously undergone rethemes and name changes, originally arriving in 2000 as Wave Surfer before being converted into S.Q.U.I.D. Surfer in 2012. It was rethemed as Hydra's Challenge to fit into the new Lego Mythica area which opened in 2021.
Hydra's Challenge is a lot of fun, and provides an exhilarating not-too-wet water ride for visitors to Legoland.
