Pirate Falls is one of the most popular rides at Legoland Windsor, especially on a hot day when queues can easily reach an hour or two, visitors eager for a cooling soaking.
The log flume has been a staple at the park ever since it opened in 1996, and is one of the better themed examples. Boats float through a concrete water channel, past several different scenes featuring Lego model pirates and their accoutrements.
The ride’s drop comes at the climax of the ride, as boats first climb up into an enclosed pirate cabin, before crashing down into the splash pool below. Just in case anybody managed to stay dry, a series of water sprays provide a wet welcome back down to ground level.
Unlike many of Legoland’s rides which are specifically aimed at younger children, Pirate Falls appeals to the whole family. Despite its advancing years, it is well cared for and hasn’t lost any of its appeal. Avast, me hearties!
