Paultons Park is a family theme park in Hampshire close to Southampton and is built on the former Paultons Estate, which gives it its name. Established in 1983, in recent years there has been huge investment in the park and it is now home to the UK's Peppa Pig World.
The majority of the park's attractions are aimed at children, with the rides in Peppa Pig World being especially child friendly. This has been a huge success for Paultons, seeing visitor numbers double to a million per year when it opened.
Paultons opened the Lost Kingdom area in 2016. Aimed at older children and costing £9 million, it features two Vekoma rollercoasters: Flight of the Pterosaur, a Vekoma Suspended Family Coaster; and Velociraptor, a Vekoma Family Boomerang. These are surrounded by lifelike animatronic dinosaurs and other attractions. The quality of the theming is far and above what you would expect for a small family theme park.
The most recent addition is Tornado Springs which opened in 2021 and takes visitors back to Fifties America. The area is home to the park's largest rollercoaster to date, Storm Chaser.
Amongst Paultons Park's other noteworthy attractions are Cobra, a fun Gerstlauer Bobsled rollercoaster; The Edge, a Zamperla Disk'O ride; and Magma, an 80 foot tall volcano themed drop tower from SBF Visa.
As a family theme park, Paultons Park ticks all the boxes. It has a good ride lineup that will appeal to both young children and their older brothers and sisters. The park is clean and well looked after, the staff are friendly, and the theming in Lost Kingdom, Peppa Pig World and Tornado Springs is amongst the best quality examples in the UK. It's definitely worth a visit for a fun, relaxed day out.
