Entrance to Blair Witch

There's a legend in the town of Burkitsville, about a witch who lives in the woods. Brave souls venture deep into the woodland after dark, in search of the truth behind the legend and the evil that lurks within the trees.

Following a year's hiatus, the Blair Witch scare maze returned for Fright Nights 2018. The previous version took a route from the old Canada Creek station and down along the former railway track towards Nemesis Inferno, but with the addition of the shortlived Dead Creek Woods the length of the maze was been halved and started instead near the back of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

Although now much shorter, the new version of Blair Witch is superior to the previous. The new maze feels much more intimate, with many more bushes and trees placed for actors to hide behind. This leads to lots more opportunity for jump scares and prevents it feeling like a simple stroll down a badly lit footpath.

Unfortunately, the ending is still not brilliant - the encounter with the witch still feels like it's taking place in a large B&Q shed (probably because to all intents and purposes it is). Overall though, the year off and the shortened route (and name) has done the maze a lot of good.
