Grande Roue sits on the edge of the park next to the St Lawrence River
Whisking visitors high into the air for views over the city of Montréal, Grande Roue is La Ronde's traditional old fashioned ferris wheel.
Grande Roue is French for Big Wheel. The ride was manufactured by Vekoma and opened at the theme park in 1984. Since then it has been entertaining generations of park goers with its gentle rotation leading to stunning views over La Ronde and across the St Lawrence River.
The wheel reaches 45 metres tall at its highest point and can accommodate up to 240 people within its forty gondolas.
La Ronde is lucky enough to feature two tall observation rides, the other being the significantly taller Spirale. You can't, however, argue with the pure nostalgia and wonderful views afforded by Grande Roue.
