Alamaba Splash Adventure has had a rather turbulent history, passing between several owners and through financial difficulties, but in March 2014 it was bought by Koch Family Parks - a company founded by former Holiday World CEO Dan Koch together with his sister. Although I only visited briefly in 2016, it felt to me as though they have begun to turn the park around, giving it their characteristic friendly family atmosphere.
Aside from the large water park which contains multiple slides and pools, Alabama Splash Adventure features several rides including Rampage, a wooden rollercoaster from Custom Coasters International which feels more than a little like Megafobia at Oakwood. Rampage was originally built in 1998, and it was reopened in 2015 following a complete restoration - and it flies!
Unlike many US parks, the park offers free car parking. Even more unusual than that though, they also have free sunscreen and unlimited soft drinks. I'm guessing this doesn't actually cost them a huge amount of money, but it makes a massive difference to the sense of goodwill from their guests.
With the Kochs now at the helm, and lots of investment going into it, the future looks very bright for the park.
