Gold Striker is a superb wooden rollercoaster located at California's Great America in Santa Clara, California.
The ride was built by Great Coasters International and opened in 2013 as the fastest and tallest woodie in Northern California. It is loosely themed around the Wild West and the Californian Gold Rush.
After ascending the 33 metre lift hill, Gold Striker begins with the first drop through a tunnel, diving downwards and turning to the right. Bursting out into the open air, this leads on to the rest of the twisting layout which never lets up throughout its whole length.
Gold Striker is fast and ferocious, but superbly paced with a nicely balanced intensity which makes it a top class ride: it regularly ranks highly within the Golden Ticket Awards' annual list of top wooden coasters.
