Kings Dominion's Eiffel Tower
Similarly to its sibling park Kings Island in Ohio, Kings Dominion is set around a one-third scale replica of the Eiffel Tower which acts as the park's centrepiece.
Kings Dominion is the slightly younger of the two, opening three years after the Ohio park in 1975. Racer 75 (then called Rebel Yell), a PTC racing woodie, opened with the park. From these roots, Kings Dominion has grown to have one of the largest and most diverse collections of rollercoasters in the world.
Twisted Timbers is the park's 2018 highly regarded RMC conversion of their 1994 Hurler wooden coaster. Slightly tamer than some other RMCs, Twisted Timbers is more reridable and generally more enjoyable due to the less intense but no less unrelenting pacing of the hybrid rollercoaster.
Racer 75 and Twisted Timbers bookend a coaster collection that also includes Intimidator 305, a 305ft tall Intamin Giga Coaster; Dominator, a boneshaker of a B&M floorless; Flight of Fear, an indoor launched coaster; Avalanche, the only Mack Bobsled coaster in North America; and Anaconda, a classic Arrow Dynamics Looping Coaster.
The rollercoasters are supported by a host of other rides including a log flume, whitewater rapids, a historic 1917 PTC carousel, a wind seeker, and other flat rides dotted around the park. Access to Soak City, Kings Dominion's large waterpark is also included in the price of admission.
With its neatly landscaped grounds, huge ride collection and positive friendly atmosphere all set underneath the watchful eye of the Eiffel Tower, Kings Dominion is a superb theme park which can easily consume an entire day.
