Sierra Sidewinder is a spinning rollercoaster at Knott's Berry Farm in California.
The ride is Mack's second Spinning Coaster, following ten years after the original Euro Mir was opened at Europa Park in Germany.
Sierra Sidewinder is very different, with a simpler layout and much less theming than its Germanic sibling (huge mirrored glass towers might look rather out of place at Knott's anyway!).
The rollercoaster does feature similar trains, each made up of four spinning cars that seat pairs of riders back-to-back. In contrast to Euro-Mir though, Sierra Sidewinder's cars are free spinning rather than motor controlled which makes for a much less predictable ride. If the car is sufficiently unbalanced, it can spin wildly.
At only 60ft tall, Sierra Sidewinder is somewhat dwarfed by many of Knott's Berry Farm's other rollercoasters, but what it lacks in height it makes up for in quality. Spinning coasters have become a common sight at theme parks around the world, but Mack's version has really refined the idea and provides a great balance between excitement and family friendly fun.
