Down in Gotham City at Six Flags Over Georgia lies Batman: The Ride, one in a series of inverted rollercoasters at parks across the Six Flags chain.
The ride is an Inverted Coaster model from Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M) and follows the same track design and layout as the other Batman clones, although Georgia's is painted dark blue rather than the more common black or yellow.
Batman: The Ride opened at Six Flags Over Georgia in May 1997 and was the park's first B&M rollercoaster. It has since been joined by Standup, Flying and Hyper Coaster models from the B&M catalogue.
The ride begins from an elevated station (accessed up some stairs in the final part of the queueline), from which the coaster train climbs up the 105ft lift hill. A diving first drop takes the train off the top and into a vertical loop, unrelentingly followed by a zero-G roll and a second loop. From there comes a few moments of restbite in the form of a helix and turnaround, before riders are pitched upside down again through two wing over elements. Another helix throws the train up and into the final brakes, slowing it for a return into the station.
Just as with the other Batman clones, Six Flags Over Georgia's Batman is fast, intense and full of positive G-forces. Its fun but the pace rarely lets up - many thrillseekers love it, even if it may be a little too much in the sweltering heat and humidity of a very hot summer day.
