Sometimes the name of a rollercoaster is entirely justified - and that is certainly true of The Boss at Six Flags St Louis.
The wooden coaster is huge, speedy and certainly intimidating. Standing 122 feet tall with 4631 feet of twisted track and a top speed of 66mph, it is most certainly worthy of Boss credentials.
While the specs are impressive, sadly the ride experience is not: as is often the case with coasters from Custom Coasters International (CCI) it has not aged well. Reports from people who have ridden The Boss recently say it has become excessively rough - so rough that the boneshaking finale helix was removed in 2018, reducing the overall length by 420 feet.
This is a pity because The Boss' layout is thrilling, following the terrain and featuring multiple airtime hills, two dives into a ravine and exhilarating turnarounds.
The Boss is a spectacular ride, but with its current roughness it is badly let down. It could do with either sustantial retracking, or perhaps an RMC conversion.
