For those wishing to get the most authentic Harry Potter experience possible, what eatery could be better to dine at than the rustic Three Broomsticks pub, brought to life from the books and films at Universal Studios Hollywood?
Sat within Hogsmeade in the theme park's Wizarding World of Harry Potter area, the restaurant offers a range of dishes mentioned in the books together with an assortment of classic British pub food ... or at least an American take on what British pub food would be like: The version of a Sunday Roast on offer at The Three Broomsticks, for example, comes with thinly sliced roast potatoes and red peppers and the Shepherd's Pie is made from beef rather than lamb.
Even if the food, perhaps understandably, is geared toward an American palate rather than authentically British, it is great quality and comes in good sized portions. However, considering it is offering a premium yet rustic dining experience, it is a massive shame that everything is served using disposable plastic plates and plastic cutlery.
The restaurant's interior carries through the overall theme from the rest of the Wizarding World nicely and feels very much like an old pub with oak beams running across the ceiling and casks of beer sitting behind the bar. It is very clever in the use of space, retaining a cosy fire-side feel while at the same time fitting in a large number of tables to cater for the crowds of visitors.
While there are many and varied food options available throughout Universal Studios, The Three Broomsticks is very high up on the list thanks both to the quality of the dishes it serves and the detailed themed surroundings it provides - all washed down with a glass of Butterbeer of course!
