Spuk's front fascade
Spuk is a haunted castle themed ghost train, which is toured around European fairs by owners Sipkema and Lutjens from Elsloo in the Netherlands.
The ride towers 15 metres above the ground and features three floors full of scary scenes, spooky animatronics and haunting special effects, plus live actors to give an extra fright.
Part traditional ghost train, Spuk also features some rollercoaster-like elements including a spiral lift hill and two drops for its rotating two car trains to navigate.
Compared to standard fairground ghost trains, the effects offered by Spuk are decent quality and the theming - both internal and external - is very good.
Perhaps the main complaint is that it is definitely a ride of two halves: the first suffering from a lack of scares at it concentrates on the drop element followed by a trundle along the front looking out over the fair from first floor height, with the second half being a much more typical crazed ghost train experience.
