A couple of nice amusement parks...
Friday 14th July 2023
Setting off on the penultimate day of the trip
Family Park
It was another two park day - the one for the morning was Family Park
In what was becoming quite a habit, our first ride was on the kiddie coaster!
It needed a bit of a push to get started
Family Park's Gold Rush is the old 4 Man Bob from Alton Towers
The coaster came to Family Park in 2020
It was originally built in 1975
Gold Rush was built by Zierer
It was great to see it doing well in its new location
For such an old ride it was remarkably smooth
With the coasters ridden, it was time for a trip on the wheel
Looking down on Gold Rush
Riding the wheel in the sunshine
The 4D cinema showed a film featuring a rickshaw racing along the Great Wall of China
A shady spot for lunch
Baguette
Papéa Parc
Taking the requisite entrance sign photo at Papéa Parc
We were met at the entrance by the park manager, who took us into the park
We joined the queue to ride Train de la Mine
The first part of the group set off from the station ...
... but the train was too heavy and got stuck on the lift hill
After removing some of the excess weight, they made it around
Thankfully we had better luck on the kiddie coaster
Spot the caterpillar
Roller Coaster was fast and smooth for a Zierer Tivoli
Speedy Nuts was a very nicely presented wild mouse coaster
It was nice and smooth too
Some of the drops were pretty steep!
Another wheel? But of course!
Waiting for our turn
It was a bit windy at the top
There wasn't room for us on the train
We rode the gentle boat ride instead, which passed through some very pretty gardens
It was very relaxing floating slowly along
... but not as slowly as the train, which was so slow it had taken over twenty minutes to circuit the park!
Papéa Parc had been great, but it was time to leave as we had a long drive ahead of us
We stopped at a service station Burger King for dinner, then passed through Paris
Our hotel was yet another crappy Campanile, but this one didn't even have air conditioning
