I last visited Parc Astérix way back in 2006 on a very rainy day, meaning I didn't get to see the park properly then.
I was looking forward to exploring it in full and seeing all the new additions they've made in the subsequent seventeen years!
We arrived at one of the Parc Astérix hotels and met up with some friends who would be joining us for the day
The day began with an ERS on Tonnerre 2 Zeus
The woodie is still as good as I remember, probably thanks to the recent refurbishment
Unfortunately due to a mistake by the park who opened the queueline to the rest of the day visitors, our ERS was curtailed after a single ride
Discobélix is Parc Astérix's superbly themed Zamperla Disk'O Coaster
I missed out on Vol D'Icare on my previous visit as it was closed thanks to the rain - with its harsh braking and general roughness, I'm not sure it was worth the
17 year wait
Next up was Pégase Express
We joined the long but steadily moving queue
It was a fun coaster with backwards and forwards elements, and looked great interacting with the park's rapids
Menhir Express was a very wet log flume, complete with a little section of "coaster" track in the middle!
Parc Astérix's smallest rollercoaster is SOS Numérobis
I've been looking forward to riding OzIris since it opened in 2012
The queue was very long and in the end we had to wait almost 90 minutes
Luckily there is plenty to see - firstly with the coaster soaring overhead in the outside section, and then in the indoor section within the nicely themed Egyptian tomb
Unfortunately the park won't let you ride OzIris wearing glasses, even if they are secured with a strap
Even so, OzIris is a superb ride and worth the wait to ride
It was very thoughtful for these Egyptians to greet us after our ride
Parc Astérix's new area for 2023 is Festival Toutatis
The area is headlined by Toutatis, an amazing Intamin LSM Launch Coaster
We left Parc Astérix at 7pm, having had a great day despite the crowds
It was very long drive to our hotel for the night, so dinner came courtesy of a stop at a service station en-route before we finally got to the hotel at 11:30pm
